A nice movie indeed, however what is interesting in my opinion and partially sad is that even though the movie takes place in Italy, and the concept is completely Roman, the movie itself is completely American. Values and plot wise. Quite disappointing yet proof how Hollywood dictates our perception on other cultures as well. It is obvious but you never truly come to think about it. The man, war hero, victim and warrior falling in love with the woman who is spoken for. And the woman obviously falls in love with the hero. Such a Hollywood style. Not that its a bad thing its just that the movie pretends to be foreign, pretends to reflect European history and values but all it does, is that it promotes the idea of Hollywood and its ideology.
